2013 Trends

Just finished the last of the customer Christmas Quilts.  The wind is blowing (gusting up to 50 mph) snowing (nothing sticking though)-perfect time for me to sit a few minutes to tell you about some of the new trends we will be seeing in the coming year.

  • Neutrals will continue to be a subtle and elegant choice for colors.    These will be seen not only as stand alones, but as companions for brighter hues and monochromatic color schemes.  Textured patterns in muted tones will offer quiet, neutral colors for comforting, soothing quilts.  We just happen to have a new lap quilt kit that will meet your needs for neutrals.  Only $78.99!  Mention this post and I will give you 15% off by January 1, 2013.

  • Warm and spicy-we will be seeing browns shift to the colors of spices and beverages as design and color choices evoking food will be a continuing trend.  Think mocha and cinnamon!

  • The term "vintage" continues to change as what just happened recently becomes history.  The interest in vintage is an appealling artifact to those who have not lived it and nostalgia for those who have.

  • Blue-Blue-Blue! is becoming America's favorite color and in shades from navy to high seas to bright skies.  Let's put some red and white with this and make a Quilt of Valor to support our military!  If every quilter would make just one QOV - we would have thousands of quilts.

  • I'll put a HEX on you!!  This shape is here to stay for 2013-by hand, by machine, appliqued and printed on fabric.  The hexagon will pop up all over the place.  (Look for a Hex tablerunner to be coming soon).

  • Handwork is enjoying a resurgence because of its portability.  No technique shows more signs of surging to the top than embroidery.  Our new Sadie's Keepsake Embroidery Block of the Month will start February 2013.  Only $12/month-signup NOW!

Be sure to sign up for our Birthday Club.

Time to pack up and go home for the evening.  Another batch of Christmas cookies are calling my name.
