Day 4

Normally today would be the day we would be packing up about 2:00 pm
and heading home.  At 2:00 yesterday, we all bowed our heads
and thanked the Lord that we were here another 3 days.
No one was ready to leave.

A load of towels in the washer this am.  Thought I had a bunch at home, but you get
seven women in the same house and all take showers daily.  LOTS and LOTS of towels.
PS-this is the second load in 4 days.
OK-so the first load was because I had to wash my PJ's and just threw some towels in with them.
NO-I didn't have an accident, well kind of.

I opened the can and when I turned around to get my glass, I knocked it over and it spilled
all down the from of my PJ's.
Just sorry that that one had to go to waste.
Oh well-good thing I had a 12 pack!!!

This is what we all go accomplished yesterday:

Carol is continuing her work on the Log Cabin blocks.

Notice she is absent from her chair AGAIN!

Marie worked on a nice patriotic quilt for Quilts of Valor.
Thanks for your support!

Edna started on her Infinite Variety blocks.
Just love her pink fabric.

Pat is working on another project "Wistful".
Like this pattern.

Chris made a strippy quilt and pillowcase for her orange quilt.

And me--
I finished up the last 6 months of "By Thy Hands".  All are quilted and bound and just waitin
for the hand work (embellishments and binding) at home in the evenings.

and
Margaret-well, we found her
or should I say, she found us!

OK-so she is absent again, but this is the last day and at least her stuff is here.

Stay tuned tomorrow for another update!

It's Been A While

It has been a while since my last post
Smiley sad icon
but that is about to change--

Since my last post, I have feverishly been working on
all of the new projects for

By Thy Hands Block of the Month

You saw the February and March minis--

here are what you get in April and May

These went together REALLY fast.  The blocks were made, appliques cut from wool and glued in place, layered, appliques stitched around using a blanket stitch, quilted and bound in less and 10 hours!  YEAH!!

I committed to myself to do one Quilt of Valor each month this year.  Here it is almost March and I had yet to complete my January commitment.  But here it is without the last border (didn't get a pic but it is sewn on and at the quilters-yes that's me, but it is in line with the other 5 QOV's yet to quilt)

I did however manage to get some QOV's quilted this month.
This Irish Chain was made by Carol.

I put a Navy theme to it with the quilting.

Also quilted this month was a QOV made by Margaret.
This was presented to Everett Hickerson just a few weeks ago in Litchfield.

I've had the book for the Lucy Boston quilt for several years.
It is now the latest thing--so the perfect time to start my
English Paper Pieced blocks.

I have three completed-here is one of them

If you are interested, here is the link

Also on my list is the Antique Wedding Sampler quilt by Di Ford.  It is in her book
Primarily Quilts.

We have started an Antique Wedding Sampler Club at Patchwork Plus that meets on the second Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm.  Join us if you like.

This is the beginning of the first block.  Lots of broderie perse applique.

This technique involves cutting out a floral motif and then appliqueing it in place.

Only 3 more corners and a center to go!
Oh did I mention that this was my second block.  I didn't like the first one, so I started again.
Like this background much better.
Also lightened up the center triangles and fussy cut them too!

Quiltmania (the magazine) is also featuring a Di Ford mystery quilt this year.
Of course, I couldn't resist.
The magazine is published every other month so there will be 6 installment to this quilt.

I started--

Have the stems appliqued in place, the vase is just sitting there for now,
but is stitched together.
The other pieces are cut and ready stitch.  Now to find the time for handwork.

And last, I here are a few blocks for the Calhoun County Raffle quilt in October.

The Christmas RUSH!

I think I am in pretty good shape for Christmas.
Wrapped the presents this afternoon

work tomorrow
and will
start baking when I get home after a quick rush to
Walmart to get some last minute things
for your dice game we play on Christmas Eve.

I am beginning to dislike the paperwork of running a business.
I just want to sew--but, after a few hours, I did get all of the new shop project signup
sheet ready for Monday.

Started on some of the projects as well this week like--

February "By Thy Hand"

and
March "By Thy Hand"

and I must mention that they are quilted and bound!
(Label is just written on the back)

Couldn't wait - had to do a few of the
new Infinite Variety
Blocks #1-6

I have also cut out my templates for the first block of
Antique Wedding Sampler
Now to pick out the fabrics!

I am also embroidering on Block 1 of the
Gingerbread Square House BOM

Back to stitching
